What to Expect
The detasseling day begins at 6:00 am when you are picked up.
Pay starts at the pick-up point and ends at the field at
check-out time. A normal day runs eight hours, but that can
vary. Two 15-minute breaks are offered, one in the morning and
one in the afternoon. These are paid breaks, but the lunch break
is not. Please bring your own lunch and something to drink.
There will be water available at the field.
The weather in Nebraska can vary greatly. Because of this, it is
suggested that you wear layers of clothes, wear a poncho if
necessary, and bring a cap or hat. You must wear closed toe
shoes. Typically, it is cold and wet in the fields in the morning,
and hot in the afternoon, so plan accordingly.
